B44321 Studies in Botanical Art: Focus on Houseplants
B44321 As our gardens go to sleep for the winter, our attention turns to our houseplants coming indoors after summering outside. Do you have a favorite you've tended for years? Bring your plant model to class (at least the first few classes) and work directly from the subject to develop the composition, colors, and values for your drawing. Painting and drawing techniques, design tips and current literature will be introduced as needed. Guidance on other individual projects will be available, too. Bring your botanical drawing and painting supplies and hot-pressed paper. Prerequisite: watercolor painting or drawing experience.

A411W21 Reviewing Your Work with Thomas Paquette
In 2008, the Minnetonka Center for the Arts presented an exhibit of the work of acclaimed landscape painter Thomas Paquette: a gallery full of tiny, jewel-like landscape paintings in gouache, punctuated by his large oil paintings exploring landscape imagery on a grand scale.
In conjunction with the opening of his show "From the North" at Groveland Gallery, Mr. Paquette returns to the Minnetonka Center for the Arts to share his thoughtful approach to painting in an informal group review, limited to just 15 participants. Although completed works are appropriate, participants are encouraged to bring works in progress, and pieces on which they're "stuck," where there's an issue to resolve. Whether you paint large or small, in oils, acrylics, gouache, or watercolor, this is a unique opportunity to receive the benefit of this talented painter's experience and insights regarding your own artistic journey.
Participants are invited to bring up to three pieces of work for consideration and discussion.
