Looking for a chance to improve your overall approach to acrylic or oil painting? If so, this class may be right for you! Each class begins with a lecture/demonstration, where basic painting concepts will be reviewed. Then you'll apply what you've learned to your individual work. We’ll cover: selecting painting materials, choosing images and personal painting themes, experimenting with compositional sketches, transferring images onto canvas, understanding warm and cool color composition, the value of grouping values, dynamic brushstrokes and edges, and how to know when your painting is finished. Just starting out with watercolor and want some help finding your way? Curious about the possibilities? Through demonstrations, exercises, and artistic experiments designed to introduce you to this delightful medium, learn fundamental watercolor techniques such as brush handling, color mixing, glazing, wet-into-wet, wet-into-dry, and tonal value studies.   • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
