C040W22 Valentine's Origami Art
Instructor: Kathleen Sheridan
Skill level: ALL

Let's create handmade Valentine's Day origami art which is sure to impress. You will learn step-by-step folding techniques to make heart-inspired origami that tucks inside a mailing envelope. This class includes origami paper kits with brightly colored and patterned origami paper, which you will fold into Valentine's creations. With your newfound paper folding skills, you'll be ready to send origami Valentines to your friends and family all around the world! This is a welcoming and creative multigenerational learning experience open to all experience levels.

C020W22 Weaving Explorations
Instructor: Madie Ley
Skill level: ALL

Join us as we experiment with color, texture and pattern in small scale weavings. Using a simple frame loom, learn how to warp a loom and prepare weft yarn for weaving. The majority of class time will be devoted to weaving with yarn - from cotton to wool to acrylic-blends - representing a rainbow of colors. Once you understand the basics of weaving, you will expand your weaving know-how with techniques to add texture and pattern. You'll even learn finishing techniques for creating a woven wall-hanging. This multigenerational class is open to artists who have never woven before as well as those with previous experience weaving.

C190W22 Art Journal (Ink & Watercolor)
Instructor: Erin Stahl
Skill level: ALL

This multigenerational class introduces you to art journals, an excellent way to capture impressions of a place when you are traveling or even on a backyard nature walk. Get an overview of different styles and formats for an art journal, and see samples of the mixed-media journal pages created by artist Erin Stahl. Then it's time to create your own art journal pages based on meaningful moment, a special place, or a natural or architectural wonder. Start by sketching in graphite and ink, and then learn some tips for applying watercolor paints to make your sketches come alive. You may even choose to add some written journaling to enhance your storytelling. Students ages 12 and up may register with a registered adult for this multigenerational experience.

C072W22 Ceramic Piggy Bank
Instructor: Anastasia Speer
Skill level: ALL

Make your own piggy bank out of clay, formed into an animal of your choice! First make your animal's main shape using the pinch pot clay handbuilding technique. Learn how to connect two pots to form a round shape perfect to store your coins. Using a variety of clay tools, create your animal's eyes, snout, tail and feet. Once you've finished sculpting your piggy bank's shape and distinctive features, decorate your animal using colorful slips and underglazes. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated project pickup is three weeks after the class. This is a multigenerational class open to all skill levels from beginners to more experienced potters.

C066W22 Cheers to Winter

It's cold outside. Come in to our ceramics studio and warm up! Create handmade mugs to hold your favorite warm winter drinks. Basic handbuilding techniques will be covered including slab building the shape of your mug. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated project pickup is three weeks after the class.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
