A137W24 Colorful Leaf Ceramics, Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m. - Noon
Instructor: Alex Lange

Explore the wonders of autumn colors in this fun workshop. Trees are showering down leaves in all shapes, sizes and shades to inspire you and your friends as you create your own plates, small bowls or other leaf shaped decorative vessel. Using leaves as templates and nature's shifting palette of hues your clay creation will be a marvel for you to enjoy and share with others. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated pickup is three weeks after the class. Price includes all materials and firing fees.

Fall is a great time to start journaling with art. In this class you will be introduced to art journals, an excellent way to capture impressions of places you have been, or things that you have seen. Get an overview of different styles and formats for an art journal. See samples of mixed-media journal pages based on a meaningful moment, a special place, or a natural wonder. Start by sketching in graphite and ink, then learn some tips for applying watercolor paints to make your sketches come alive. You may choose to add some written pieces to enhance your story telling, or add other mixed media such as a feather or a stamp.

A138W24 Clay Pumpkin Candy Bowls, Saturday, October 5, 10:00 a.m. - Noon
Instructor: Art Center Faculty
Skill level: ALL

October means candy and lots of it! Make a pumpkin shaped candy bowl to hold your favorite sweets. Join in the fun in our clay studio as you handbuild a special bowl. You will learn handbuilding techniques as you coil or pinch the clay into shape. Using colorful slips or textural tools you will give your creations a unique finish. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated pickup is three weeks after the class. Price includes all materials and firing fees.

Create sparkling, brilliant holiday decorations in fused glass! You will be guided through the process of designing your project, cutting the glass with special tools, and assembling your piece so it is kiln ready for fusion! You may want to take more than one of these workshops once you see how much fun it is for both beginners and advanced fusers. The instructor will guide you in designing pieces that suit your skill level. Ideas for ornaments will be available to get you started. You may find your creativity will lead to original designs of your own. Price includes $25 fee for materials and firing, all materials and tools provided. Completed projects will be ready in two weeks for pickup after being kiln-fired by the instructor.

In this multigenerational workshop you will create a charming beaded pattern bracelet. You will enjoy the process of creating your own colorful designs for your bracelet. Our artist - instructor will guide you step by step with all the finishing touches needed to make a fancy piece of jewelry. Your eye-catching bracelet will delight you when you wear it or give it as a present to someone special.

Special plates for special times, handmade by you! Whatever you may be celebrating in the days to come your new plate will enliven things with its charms. Cookies, crackers and other tasty treats won't last long when you serve them up on something handmade. Using pinch, coil, and other handbuilding techniques to form the plate, you will then add colors, shapes, or textures to enhance your ideas! Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated pickup is three weeks after the class. Price includes all materials and firing fees.

  • Enter the number of attendees for each class in a session then select "Add [SESSION] classes" (at the bottom of that session's section).

  • Complete the information requested and continue.

  • Then click CONTINUE to add that session to your cart.

  • You can repeat this process for other sessions, classes, etc. before you checkout.

  • If you are not already a member, you may purchase a membership and begin taking advantage of your 10% member discount today!

Please note that the New Student Discount can only be processed by registering in-person or by phone. This discount cannot be applied retroactively and it does not apply to birthday parties, subsidized classes, or Summer Arts Camp (SAC). See SAC policies for other details specific to camp. 
  • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
