E760W24 Adventures in Weaving; Saturdays, May 4 & 11, 10 a.m. - noon
Instructor: Nicole Buchholz
Skill level: ALL

Make a spring inspired weaving that plays with color, pattern and texture. Like a new bird's nest, natural materials may be integrated into the weaving. Your creativity will flourish as you experiment with a variety of fibers and weaving techniques. Learn how to set up a frame loom and weave a small project such as a mini wall hanging or a coaster. Materials will be provided.

D053W24 Gorgeous Glass Jewelry; Saturday, April 6, 1 - 3:30 p.m. (Sold Out)
Instructor: Diane Petron
Skill level: ALL

In these multigenerational workshops, learn the basics of glass fusing and then apply your newfound glass skills in this Jewelry workshop. Beginners learn the basics of cutting and layering glass. Experienced fusers create more challenging projects. Ideas and samples will be provided by the instructor. Take one or all workshops! Completed projects will be ready for pickup in two to three weeks after being fired in a kiln by the instructor.

Gorgeous Glass Jewelry: Create your own beautiful glass jewelry! Beginners will learn the basics of glass fusing but on a small scale. Experienced fusers are free to simply create. We'll work with specialty glass such as dichroic and iridized and learn how to embed metals into glass. We will begin with pendants and move on to smaller, more challenging projects such as earrings or beads. Glass and basic jewelry findings will be provided.

D138W24 Clay Wall Vases; Saturday, April 13,1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Skill level: ALL

Welcome spring flowers and ephemerals with a handmade wall vase. This multigenerational workshop will help you create small hanging vessels that are fun and beautiful on their own, or even more interesting with sprigs of ferns, flowers or herbs. Learn handbuilding techniques to sculpt the bodies of the vases, as you fold, shape, and pinch clay into the shape you desire. Next, decorate your vase with colorful slips or textures. Adding a hole for hanging is the last step. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will be ready for pickup three weeks after the class.

E08224 Stone Carving Studio; Saturdays, April 27 - June 1, 10 a.m. - noon
Instructor: Frank Picos
Skill level: ALL

Artist-Instructor Frank Picos will show you how to carve a sculpture from a piece of stone, You will use hammers, chisels, files and sanding tools to shape your three-dimensional artwork. People of all ages and relations are welcome in this setting. Safe carving techniques will have you sculpting stone just like the masters do it. Some examples from contemporary and historical stone carving artworks will be shared and admired for their enduring beauty and inspiration. Enrollment limited to 12.

Gorgeous Glass Landscape or Portrait: Create a fused glass dimensional landscape, either vertical or horizontal. On the first day, you will design your landscape or portrait and create the background using glass in its many forms from stringers to frit. Your piece will then be fired in the kiln for a full fuse. On the second day, you will add details, texture, and dimension in glass. Your piece will then get a tack fuse in the kiln, so your details will stand out against the background.

This workshop will show you how to make both beaded bracelets and Origami bracelets. Invite a friend to sign up, too, and have some fun making new accessories for springtime. The colorful choices of paper and beads will inspire you to create lots of new things and have some fun while you make one of a kind designer jewelry. Price includes all materials.

E137W24 Surface Design Clay Pot; Saturday, May 18, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Skill level: ALL

This multigenerational workshop brings the garden to you. Create a pot to house your favorite new plant. You will learn handbuilding techniques to build your pot, then learn about carving, sculpting, brushing and other techniques to add interest to the surface of your project. Emphasis is on textural surface designs, although colorful slips may be added. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will be ready for pickup three weeks after the class.

  • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
