  • FAMILY: Indicates an intergenerational workshop with art activities for adults and children to do together. Children must be accompanied by an adult and adults accompanied by a child.
  • MULTIGENERATIONAL: Indicates a workshop that welcomes students of most ages (see class description for age range).

D174W26 Minnesota Watercolor Florals, Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Instructor: Erin Stahl
Skill Level: ALL

Learn to paint the ephemeral flowers that bloom right around us here in Minnesota. Artist Erin Stahl will lead this multigenerational watercolor workshop. You will use watercolor paintsand learn how to see the details of the blooms. She will show you how to handle brushes on watercolor paper in techniques that make the flowers appear in all their springtime beauty. This is a fun and colorful workshop that emphasizes the natural light and beauty of spring.

D137W26 Ceramic Bud Vases, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Instructor: Alex Lange

Springtime buds need a place to show off. In this workshop you will use traditional handbuilding techniques to make a slender vase to hold early blooms and ephemerals. You may try out some clever ways to pinch, roll, coil, and handle the clay. Then with colorful glazes you can paint designs or add some texture to your creative flower vessel. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, estimated pickup is three weeks after the class. Price includes all materials and firing fees.

D138W26 Fantastic Flower Pots, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This multigenerational workshop brings the garden to you. Create a pot to house your favorite flower or perhaps an herb for your kitchen. You will learn handbuilding techniques to build your pot, then learn about carving, sculpting, brushing and other techniques to add interest to the surface of your project. Emphasis is on textural surface designs, although colorful slips may be added. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will be ready for pickup three weeks after the class.

Make a lovely hand bell to ring in Springtime! Using handbuilding techniques like pinching, rolling, coiling, and molding you will create small handbell. You will add surface designs by pressing or scratching into the surface, then add color with underglazes. We will add the small clapper on the inside for you. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process pick-up is three weeks after the workshop.

E053W26 Gorgeous Glass: Springtime Ornaments, Friday, May 8, 1 - 3 ;30 p.m.
Instructor: Diane Petron
Skill level: ALL

Create sparkling, brilliant spring themed decorations in fused glass! You will be guided through the process of designing your project, cutting the glass - easily done with a special tool - and assembling your piece so it is ready to be fused in the kiln. This is fun for both beginners and experienced fusers. The artist - instructor will guide you in designing pieces that fit your skill level. Ideas for ornaments will be available to get you started, but you are encouraged to explore your own creative designs, too! Price includes $25 for materials and firing fees - all materials are provided. Because of the firing process estimated time for pick up is two weeks after the class.

  • If this is your first time registering online, please read the detailed instructions linked to the home page. 

  • Liability Waiver Requirement: Before you can attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register online you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone. 

  • MY ART HOME  Create and test drive your login well in advance of the opening of registration for faster checkout and access to your account info such as class registrations, donations, membership status, etc. Use the link in the pink box above to create or access your MY ART HOME account. You may register online without an account, but you will not receive your membership discount. Your discount is always available when registering by phone or in person. 
  • Select the class, enter the number of attendees and click "Add classes" at the bottom of the page. Complete the information requested and click "CONTINUE" to add that class to your cart. You can select additional classes from the shopping cart by clicking on the links at the top of the page, or check out if you are done. NOTE: Please be sure to complete all the fields with a red asterisk to proceed to the payment page.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
