F053W24 Gorgeous Glass Mobiles and Wind Chimes, Friday, June 28, 1 - 4 p.m.
Instructor: Diane Petron
Skill level: ALL

In this multigenerational workshop, learn the basics of glass fusing, then apply your new skills to create a mobile or wind chimes! Beginners learn the basics of cutting and layering glass to finish a simple project. Experienced fusers can make more complex projects with more elements. Ideas, samples, and firing of your work will be provided by the instructor.
Create wind chimes or a mobile that moves and sparkles! Choose an image or a theme - flowers? bugs? boats? - and make a group of them that will look good together suspended in a colorful mobile. The bar from which the elements hang can be glass, or a branch or other support of your choosing. Your pieces will be fired and ready for pickup in two to three weeks, ready for you to string together, hang, and enjoy. Materials included.

Flowers are blooming outside, but wouldn’t it be fun to have them bloom Inside too? Learn how to turn flat pieces of paper into three-dimensional tulip blossoms that will bloom all year long. We’ll fold some leaves, too, and a vase to put them in. No previous experience is required, and all materials are provided. Sign up with a family member or friend – this multigenerational class is open to ages 10 and up. Price includes $12 materials fee - all supplies provided.

G727W24 Saori Weaving Workshop, Friday, August 16, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Instructor: Saori Weaving Workshop
Skill level: ALL

Founded in Japan in 1968, Saori weaving is contemporary, free-style weaving without restrictions about what or how to weave. It emphasizes exploration, group learning, and self-expression, recognizing the difference between machines and people. In the process of creating, the maker identifies their true self. You will be guided in the basic steps to get you started, but the final form of your project will be a collaboration between you and your weaving. Your Saori loom will be prepared for you in advance, so you can begin weaving right away. All materials are provided, but if you have materials you'd like to incorporate into your project (yarn, strips of fabric, etc.) feel free to bring them. Price includes $20 materials fee. Students ages 9 and up may register with or without an accompanying adult.

  • Enter the number of attendees for each class in a session then select "Add [SESSION] classes" (at the bottom of that session's section).

  • Complete the information requested and continue.

  • Then click CONTINUE to add that session to your cart.

  • You can repeat this process for other sessions, classes, etc. before you checkout.

  • If you are not already a member, you may purchase a membership and begin taking advantage of your 10% member discount today!

Please note that the New Student Discount can only be processed by registering in-person or by phone. This discount cannot be applied retroactively and it does not apply to birthday parties, subsidized classes, or Summer Arts Camp (SAC). See SAC policies for other details specific to camp. 
  • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
