FAMILY: Indicates an intergenerational workshop with art activities for adults and children to do together. Children must be accompanied by an adult and adults accompanied by a child. All materials are included for making a treasure to take home and memories to keep forever! Prices are per person.
MULTIGENERATIONAL: Indicates a workshop that welcomes students of most ages (see class description for age range).

C054W19 Spring Into Glass, Saturday, February 23, 1-3:30 p.m.

Let's invite spring into the dreary days of winter's end by making fused glass birds, bunnies or flowers in this multigenerational workshop. Create a plate, suncatcher, door ornament or even a 3D sculpture with images of spring. Learn the basics of glass fusing and play with decorative embellishments such as stringers, noodles and frit. You are welcome to interpret the spring theme in any way you wish within the confines of the medium, the size of the kiln, and your experience level. Completed projects will be ready for pickup two to three weeks after being fired in the kiln by the instructor.

D15119 Stone Carving Adventure, Tuesdays, 4:30 - 6:30 pm
Instructor: Frank Picos

In this multigenerational class, learn the techniques of a stone sculptor by carving, filing and sanding limestone blocks into artistic images. Projects may include freestanding sculptures, candleholders or bookends. These art pieces will last a lifetime. Must wear closed-toe shoes to class. Instructor is available following class for open studio time or questions. Please note that arrival time to class is flexible.

D054W19 Gorgeous Glass Funky Faces, Saturday, March 9, 1 - 3:30 pm

In these multigenerational workshops, learn the basics of glass fusing and then apply your newfound glass skills in the spring trinkets, funky faces or mosaic workshop. The mosaic class is a grout-free technique, since we are fusing glass in the kiln. Take one or all workshops! Completed projects will be ready for pickup in two to three weeks after being fired in a kiln by the instructor.

Gorgeous Glass Funky Faces: Create your subject's distinctive characteristics using glass in its many forms from stringers to frit. Whether you create a portrait of a favorite cartoon character, family pet, or even a colorful Cubist self-portrait is up to you. Develop your color and design skills as you create your chosen subject and an attractive background in glass. The instructor will guide you in choosing designs that fit your skill level and help you grow. All materials will be provided.

In this multigenerational workshop, create acrylic paintings celebrating the new growth on trees and in gardens. You'll get a refresher on handling brushes and color mixing to achieve vivid color combinations. Next, you will add fiber touches to your piece delving into our stash of yarn and fabric. Your piece will be embellished with an assortment of mixed media including decorative papers, trinkets, beads and wire.

D071W19 Clay Fairy House, Saturday, March 23, 10 a.m. - Noon

In this family workshop you will make a fanciful fairy house perfect for your garden. Some fairies live in toadstool mushrooms; others live in twig forts. Our fairy homes will be crafted out of clay that looks just like a real mushroom or branch. You will handbuild and sculpt details like windows and doors for your fairy house. Then, decorate and paint your pottery with a colorful slip. Because of the bisque and glaze firing process, projects will be ready for pickup three weeks after the class.

This family workshop is for everyone who loves a garden. Create a flower pot that will be perfect for your favorite flower or plant. You will learn handbuilding techniques to build your pot, and then decorate and personalize it to make it your own. You will paint your pottery with a colorful slip to finish. E139W19 Flower Pot Painting, Saturday, May 11, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

In this family workshop, terra cotta flower pots will be our canvas. You will design and paint a spring theme, or a subject of your choosing, in this mixed-media painting class. When your painting is complete, you will prepare your pots with soil and then scatter seeds inside. This makes a nice gift for Mother's Day!

Gorgeous Glass Mosaic: Create mosaic fused glass plates, tiles or wall hangings without the messy grout! Appropriate for beginners or experienced fusers, this class will focus primarily on color, layout and design. You may cut your own glass shapes or use pieces already cut to create a pleasing design. The firing process will give your pieces the look of stained glass. All materials will be provided.
