A43823 Exploring Minneapolis Art, Thursdays, 1 - 4 p.m.
Instructor: Jon Neuse
Skill level: ALL

Get more comfortable and confident looking at, analyzing, and talking about art! The first week, meet at the Art Center to learn and practice Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), developing your vocabulary for discussing artworks, then visit four Metro-area museums as a group and put your new skills to use! (This class involves traveling to and parking at four museums. Locations may change due to unforeseen issues.) Museums include the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center, the Museum of Russian Art, and the Weisman Art Museum. Each student receives a 20-page handout to facilitate learning the VTS process. Materials: bring paper and pen to each session.

Enrollment limited to 15
Ages 16 and up
Classes scheduled every week on Thursday starting 9/22/2023 and ending 10/26/2023 at 1:00PM

  • Complete the information requested and continue.

  • Then click CONTINUE to add that session to your cart.

  • You can repeat this process for other sessions, classes, etc. before you checkout.

  • If you are not already a member, you may purchase a membership and begin taking advantage of your 10% member discount today!

  • Please note that all Early Registration and New Student Discounts can only be processed by registering in-person or by phone. Discounts cannot be applied through our online registration process and discounts cannot be applied retroactively. These discounts can not apply to birthday parties, subsidized classes, or Summer Arts Camp (SAC). See SAC policies for other details specific to our summer camp program.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.  

 

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
