C41825 Art Journaling - the Stories We Tell Ourselves, Mondays, 1 - 4 p.m.
Instructor: Emily Niemeyer
Skill Level: ALL

Guided, therapeutic expression through art can help us to deepen our understanding of the self-narratives we hold and support us to move alongside them with greater clarity and acceptance. Each week, we’ll pose new questions and themes to explore while trying out new mediums of visual expression. We’ll use our inner lives, past, present, and future as inspiration points. Combining Behavior Therapy with art-making, class time will include both reflection and art making. We will end each session by sharing how "arting it out" - whether representationally or abstractly - gives us more insight into some aspect of our stories or selves. Suggested materials list on the website.

C39825 The Art of Home, Thursdays, 1 - 3 p.m.
Instructor: Katie Brandt
Skill Level: ALL

Creating a home that serves our needs and tastes enhances our lives, but sometimes we need help deciding which way to go with a space, fixing a space that's not working, or just knowing where to start. Learn to see your rooms differently and pick up some helpful tips from a designer who's helped clients create beautiful, welcoming homes for 35 years.
Each week begins with a spirited talk and presentation of images by the designer, illustrating the week's topic, followed by a Q & A in which you may, if you'd like, share images of your home showing spaces you're having questions about. Images will be used as discussion points for discussion and sharing ideas, not to create discomfort or agree on a design change (whatever happens in this class stays in this class!)
Topics include identifying and cultivating your style; understanding the basics of color and scale; selecting, framing, and hanging art and accessorizing your spaces; identifying quality in furnishings and fabrics; furniture placement and solving difficult floorplans, as well as a presentation on kitchen design.
Bring a notebook for recording ideas and images you'd like to discuss (printed, or image files.)
