BL4921 Great Artists - ZOOM Lecture Series
Great Artists - ZOOM Lecture Series
A series of virtual (ZOOM) lectures covering the work of an eclectic range of Masters from the well-known to the more obscure, including women artists, lost works, and artist of color. Slides, video, and/or sound bites will enrich each lecture. Get an overview of each artist's work, a sense of the time and context in which they created, and how their work is regarded today.

Week 1: Henry Ossawa Tanner & African American Art; Week 2: Gustave Dore and 19th century popular art; Week 3: Manet, Monet, and Impressionism; Week 4: Rubens and the Baroque; Week 5: David & Neo-Classicism; Week 6: Overbeck and German Nazarene Art; Week 7: Sofonisba Anguissola, Vigee LeBrun & portraiture; Week 8: Salvator Rosa & the Esoteric

No text or materials required; just a Zoom-equipped internet connection.

BL4821 Drawing on the Old Masters - ZOOM Lecture Series
Learning to draw and paint by copying the work of the masters has been an essential aspect of art education for centuries. Learn composition, drawing, color theory, and more using the Old Masters as a reference. Using charcoal, chalk, or pastel, students will copy a Renaissance portrait, a monochromatic composition, and a larger, multi-figure composition. Go to "Classes>Class Materials Lists" on minnetonkaarts.org for a list of required materials for this class.

In addition to the required materials, a ZOOM - equipped internet connection is needed for this class.

  • Please note that all Early Registration and New Student Discounts can only be processed by registering in-person or by phone. Discounts cannot be applied through our online registration process and discounts cannot be applied retroactively. The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
