Spend some summer mornings at the loom studying a new weave structure, working on a project of your choice or trying out an eight-shaft draft if you haven't used eight shafts before. Emphasis will be on growing your abilities whatever your level. Prerequisite: a beginner level weaving class.

F71018 Folk Art Rug Hooking, Wednesdays, 1 - 4 p.m.

Discover the age-old craft of creating whimsical rugs using wool fabric strips and a simple hook. This class welcomes beginners and those wanting to sharpen their skills. Emphasis will be on hooking and finishing techniques, along with discussion on tools and the rich traditions behind this folk art. Students may bring a work in progress or choose from a variety of small mat kits, which can be purchased at the first class. Beginners' kit is an additional $30 plus tax.

G735W18 One-Day Introduction to Rug Hooking, Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Learn the basic techniques of rug hooking while creating a simple design mug mat. A great way to try your hand at this early method of making rugs by pulling loops of wool fabric through a linen backing. All materials included.

G738W18 Care and Feeding of Looms [NEW!], Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Instructor: Traudi Bestler
Skill level: ALL

Learn basic loom maintenence and problem solving for many types of looms, especially those in the weaving studio. Trouble shooting and heddle moving will be demonstrated on a variety of looms and individual questions are welcome. Students are encouraged to stay after and use their new skills to help us clean and prepare studio looms for the next quarter.
