This class introduces the pleasures of hand weaving. Using Art Center looms, you will learn all about setting up and weaving a small project. New weavers may make scarves, table linens, bags or other interesting objects. Both beginners and those wanting to refresh their weaving skills are welcome in this group. An additional $14 materials fee plus tax will be collected from first-time students.

In this class, students continue their exploration of weave structures. The projects and lessons are more challenging and will lead the weaver further down the path of learning. You will become more confident in setting up your loom and making the ideas in your imagination become real. You'll receive help with your projects and experience weaving on a variety of looms.

For people who can warp looms and read drafts independently. This class studies more complex weave structures and often spends one portion studying a new weave structure, followed by individual exploration into a project of choice. Designing using a computer program is also covered.

Discover the age-old craft of creating whimsical rugs using fabric strips and a simple hook. You will learn the basics of rug hooking: design techniques including transfer methods, color planning, wool preparation, a variety of finishing techniques, and the rich traditions behind this folk art. Beginning students will work on creating a small mat using one of a variety of kit choices which may be purchased at the first class. Experienced students will work on their own designs and may bring a project in process. Request a materials list from the Registrar. Beginners' kit is an additional $25 plus tax.

Learn the basics and discover the joy of weaving. You will learn how to set up a loom and weave a small project, such as a scarf or table runner. This class uses table looms, which are set up like floor looms but use hand-levers instead of pedals. All the learning is transferable to floor looms but many of today's weavers prefer the space-saving advantages of a table loom. Materials included.

Learn to make felted jewelry, ornaments, flowers and embellishments with no knitting or water. Using colorful wool fibers and special barbed needles (yes, they're sharp!) you'll learn how to create a variety of 2-D and 3-D felted art. You'll be amazed at the possibilities. Bring from home a pair of sharp scissors. The Art Center Cafè is open for lunch.

Don't settle for colors you don't like. Change them! Learn to safely use fiber reactive and acid dyes. Bring yarns/fabrics for experiments in dyeing, overdyeing and choosing the correct dye techniques for various fibers. All dyes are supplied. Bring a lunch or eat at the Art Center Café during the half-hour break.

Cozy and warm felted slippers are perfect for the cabin or home. Learn to layer colorful wool fibers over a custom pattern made from your own feet. Then explore traditional wet felting techniques and transform the fibers into durable felted slippers. You can even make them reversible! Some physical stamina is needed. Bring from home: 2-3 hand towels, 2 old bath towels, pair of flip-flops or similar to wear between "fittings," and a plastic bag to carry home wet items. All other materials included. Apron recommended. The Art Center Cafè is open for lunch.
