(B) Beginner
No experience with the medium or need fundamental knowledge of techniques and materials.
(AB) Advanced Beginner
Need more instruction or a refresher on fundamental techniques or need help to solve basic problems with the medium.
(I) Intermediate
Already have completed work in the medium and may have begun exhibiting. Able to solve many problems independently, developing design and composition skills, want to try or experiment with a variety of techniques.
(AD) Advanced
Able to work independently and seeks critique from instructor or peers. Have a developed style and can discuss the concept behind the work and may have begun the process of creating a resume and portfolio.
(ALL) All Skill Levels
Open to students at all levels (See Studio.)

A fundamental class that may be a good entry into a new medium.
Studio
Studio format classes offer a relaxed, work-at-your pace atmosphere. There are no instructor lead projects, rather the instructor is there to help a student when asked, and to offer suggestions and demonstrate techniques as needed.

FS02PM20 Glass Fusion / June 11- 1 PM
Let’s explore the glass arts! First learn about what it’s like to work in a hot shop where glassblowing happens in a team environment. Then try your hand at the warm glass art of fused glass, where glass is fired in a kiln. You will create a glass memento of your own, practicing basic glass cutting and design skills. Fused glass artwork will be fired in a kiln by the instructor. The art center will notify you when glass is ready for pickup. Enrollment limited to 10. Registration open to 10-15 year olds (Groups C & D)

FS03PM20 Origami Art / June 16 - 1 PM
Learn about the Japanese art form of origami where a few folds can transform a flat sheet of paper into a leaping frog, a bird or a gift box. You will learn step-by-step folding techniques to make creative origami art that will surprise and delight your friends! This is an introductory class, but campers with experience are welcome and will learn models that are not found on YouTube. Enrollment limited to 12. Registration open to 10-15 year olds (Groups C & D)

FS09PM20 Fantastic Art / July 7 - 1 PM
Are you interested in supernatural or fantastic art that’s often seen in graphic novels? First you will sketch out the major landscape features of your world, before moving to a full-sheet drawing of your environment’s fantastic features. Bring ideas for a mythical world, or use our reference materials. Enrollment limited to 12. Registration open to 10-15 year olds (Groups C & D)

FS11PM20 The Art of Doodling / July 14 - 1 PM
Let’s roll up our sleeves and scribble and doodle, all in the name of art! What starts as a random line can transform into something completely new. See how doodling can lead us in new creative directions. Enrollment limited to 12. Registration open to 10-15 year olds (Groups C & D)

GS13PM20 Zentangle Me / July 28 - 1 PM
If you like Zentangle designs with their repeating lines and shapes, this class is for you. First practice drawing with a crow quill dip pen and ink, where it’s a fun challenge to vary your line widths in a doodle - and maybe even have a wayward ink splatter to show for your efforts! Next we’ll break out the ballpoint pens and gel pens to embellish our designs further. Enrollment limited to 12. Registration open to 10-15 year olds (Groups C & D)

GS15PM20 Origami Cats & Dogs / Aug 11 - 1 PM
You will create cats and dogs out of paper, exploring the magical art of origami. Follow along with your teaching artist as you learn paper folding techniques that are sure to impress. Watch as our pets’ features - from their pointy ears to the tips of their tails - come to life in paper! This is an introductory class, but campers with experience are welcome and will learn models that are not found on YouTube. Enrollment limited to 12.   • Complete the information requested and continue.

  • Then click CONTINUE to add that session to your cart.

  • You can repeat this process for other sessions, classes, etc. before you checkout.

  • If you are not already a member, you may purchase a membership and begin taking advantage of your 10% member discount today!

  • Please note that all Early Registration and New Student Discounts can only be processed by registering in-person or by phone. Discounts cannot be applied through our online registration process and discounts cannot be applied retroactively. These discounts can not apply to birthday parties, subsidized classes, or Summer Arts Camp (SAC). See SAC policies for other details specific to our summer camp program.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
