Fonts are expressive alphabets that have been stylized. You can make your own font out of giraffes, skateboards, flowers or just about anything. This camp will take you on a rollercoaster ride designing words and letters that have visual impact. You will work with pencil, ink pens and colored pencils as you create amazing messages in your own words and pictures. Fontastic Fun! Enrollment limited to 16.

Create multiple prints with water-based inks, and paint like artists in the Pop Art movement from America to Japan. Learn color theory, color mixing and artistic tricks with inks, paints, brayers, stamps, and more. Enrollment limited to 16.

This class will help you create small versions of your favorites. You may choose to make a fairy or a gnome, or a teeny, tiny house for your clay creatures to play in. Let’s explore all the ways we can make prints using art supplies, everyday objects, and natural materials. Learn how to make a collagraph print, creating a textured plate from paper, yarn, leaves, and more. Create a hand-drawn design that you turn into a print that you carve, ink, and print yourself. Learn how to use printmaking tools to make multicolored prints and patterns on paper and/or canvas. This class will combine drawing, printmaking, and painting. Enrollment limited to 16.

Your artist palette will be awash in color, from warm and cool to bright neon and metallic colors. In this kaleidoscopic painting camp, you will paint a still life in complementary colors and experiment with painting techniques to create sunlit landscapes. Brushstrokes from Impressionism and Pointillism may be used as you add special color effects to your paintings. Enrollment limited to 16.

The more you look, the more you see. Sometimes artists hide messages in their art that you can uncover by looking carefully. This is a mixed-media art class where you create art treasures in unexpected places. Sample projects include a landscape painting with personal symbols hidden in the background, a mosaic treasure box, or a secret message hidden in an origami or book art project. (4Day Camp) Enrollment limited to 16.

  • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
