Create a cast of animal characters inspired by your own pets or animals you have met or read about from around the world. Anything is possible with a pencil! You will create drawings with graphite and colored pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, and markers. Each medium will offer new creative avenues. Elements of art will be discovered as you begin with line drawings, then learn about shape, form, and color through shading. Each day campers will learn about the art from a different country. Projects will use paint and materials that reflect what each place uses to create beautiful artworks from different lands and climates. These fun and colorful projects will be the vehicle to travel to new places and learn new things. Campers will make their own passports for these visits to remember their fun journey at art camp.

Campers will learn about a new material each day from paper to wire, wood, cardboard, fabric and found objects. Projects will teach 3 dimensional thinking through hands-on works that encourage inventive and independent thinking. Campers will have the opportunity to see sculptures made by artists here at the art center, and learn about the tools they use to make their artworks. Enrollment limited to 16.

Campers will take a dive into the world of ceramic art! Using clay to make a fish, a turtle or sea anemone, you will learn basic handbuilding techniques like rolling, coiling, arching and pinching. You might make a shark, a dophin or a mermaid. This camp will help you create small versions of your favorite sea creatures. you might even make a conch shell or coral sculpture. Because of the bisque and glazed firing process, estimated pick up is three weeks after the class. Enrollment limited to 16.

In this fun filled camp you will use your imagination to make clay projects like a Fairy or Toad House. You may make small buildings, dragons or flying cars! With handbuilding skills like coiling, you will be able to create things from your imagination that will come to life in clay. Colorful slips will help bring your favorite projects to life. Because of the bisque and glazed firing process, estimated pick up for projects is three week after the camp. Some projects may not be fired but air dried and taken home sooner. Enrollment limited to 16.

Looking at examples of comic and cartoon characters will fuel your imagination. This camp will guide you as you create your own comic characters, scenarios, vehicles, animals, places and stories. Adventure begins at Summer Arts Camp! Create a miniature treehouse, icehouse, igloo, adobe house, skatepark or swimming pool. This camp will show you how to create model habitats for any climate. Let's explore all the ways we can make prints using art supplies, everyday objects, and natural materials. Learn how to make a collagraph print, create a textural plate from paper, yarn, leaves and more. Create a hand-drawn design that you turn into a print you can carve, ink and print yourself. Learn how to use printmaking tools to make multi colored prints and patterns on paper or fabric. Enrollment limited to 16.

Learn the basics of weaving while having fun with fiber and mixed media. Practice plain weave and its basic "over and under" technique to weave with yarn, fabric scraps, ribbons, and paper. Learn how to warp and weave on a simple loom. Play with color and texture to weave one-of-a-kind mixed media art pieces. Sample projects are a woven basket for a mini felted creature and a "woven" painting made with watercolor artwork we paint, cut, and weave into something wonderful. Enrollment limited to 12.

Mix your painter's palette to create a rainbow of warm and cool colors of all hues. Learn basic brush handling skills and color mixing, and put these skills to use creating expressive paintings inspired by the masters. Every day, you will gain new insights into painting in watercolor, acrylic and/or tempera. You will gain a sense of the special painting techniques and different qualities of each paint. Enrollment limited to 16.

Your palette will be awash in color, from warm and cool to earth tones and metallics. In this camp, you will paint a still life in complementary colors and experiment with painting techniques like Impressionism and Pointillism. Landscapes and other subjects will be explored, as you use colorful effects to create Northern Lights or night skies. Enrollment is limited to 16. NOTE: 4 day camp

In this camp you will make small sculptures that look like glass but are not. You will learn about Dale Chihuly, the famous glass sculptor. Then using a variety of materials you will create your own small and fantastic sculptures. This is a fun way to end your summer arts camp explorations! Enrollment limited to 16. NOTE: 4 day camp

  • If this is your first time registering online, please read the detailed instructions linked to the home page. 

  • Liability Waiver Requirement: Before you can attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register online you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone. 

  • MY ART HOME  Create and test drive your login well in advance of the opening of registration for faster checkout and access to your account info such as class registrations, donations, membership status, etc. Use the link in the pink box above to create or access your MY ART HOME account. You may register online without an account, but you will not receive your membership discount. Your discount is always available when registering by phone or in person. 
  • Select the class, enter the number of attendees and click "Add classes" at the bottom of the page. Complete the information requested and click "CONTINUE" to add that class to your cart. You can select additional classes from the shopping cart by clicking on the links at the top of the page, or check out if you are done. The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
