Jasper Johns is an American artist who painted flags, maps, and other iconic subjects. On Monday morning you will make your own unique alphabet painting in the expressive style of Jasper Johns. And celebrating the night sky with colorful drawing projects that celebrate summer.

Using your imagination you will make a desert island on a small plate, then add 3D characters with pipe cleaners and other findings. What would you name your robot? Who would be their friend? In this camp pick a favorite color, and run with it. You will be a part of a group artwork, and make some individual ones to take home, too. It does not have to be purple but the color of your choice, as you explore monochromatic studies in a variety of mediums. Crayons, sidewalk chalk, markers and more will all be used to stretch your imagination!

Learn about scale and size as you draw with colored pencils, markers and watercolors. The duplos and legos may work together to rebuild your Lego world. You can create new characters and scenes with your mixed media know how in this fun camp. Try making a 3D brick using a template or make an extra tall drawing as you reach new heights in art.

Welcome to the Madrigal Family! Let's go on an art-filled adventure to the magical land of Encanto to visit Mirabel's family. You will draw some of your favorite characters and create a mixed media background that shows off your character's special skills. You will create a casita with fun doors and windows, staircases and more. This camp includes drawing, paper arts, collage and some 3D tricks of the art trade.

Explore family portraiture with painting. In this camp, you will make silly, creepy, or odd portraits from the movie or from your imagination. You will learn how to paint head and shoulders, facial expressions and features, and details like hair and jewelry. You may decide to do a pet portrait, it's all in good fun. Making frames for your portraits will add the finishing touches for mysterious keepsakes.

  • Liability Waiver Requirement
    Before you are able to attend a class or workshop at the Art Center, we must have a signed RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK. If you register on line you must review and indicate you accept the terms of this release before you will be directed to the classes. If you register by phone, the Registrar will email you a link to the waiver you must complete before your registration can be processed. If you register in person, you will be asked to complete the waiver on our tablet or on your phone.

The building is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve through New Year's Day*, Memorial Day and the last week in August through Labor Day.* There is no open studio when the building is closed. 

 

* Phone lines will be open Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. to take class registrations.
